Integrated AIS and GPS Receivers
A dual-channel AIS receiver monitors the position of nearby AIS-equipped vessels, helping you to avoid collisions in crowded harbours and waterways. AIS information can be viewed on the Simrad RS40 VHFs built-in screen, or overlaid on your chart or radar screen through a compatible multifunction display. An integrated GPS receiver ensures your boats location can be sent with DSC distress calls, even if the rest of your on-board electronics are powered down.

Removable Fist Mic
The Simrad RS40 VHFs removable fist mic can be connected to the front or rear of the radio, and optional extension cables allow the radio and mic to be mounted separately. This offers a simple and cost-effective solution for any mounting location, with no cable clutter. For example, the Simrad RS40 VHF can be mounted overhead, with no hanging cables, while the mic is connected to an extension socket on the dash below.

Expandable with Wireless Handsets
Add an optional wireless handset to the Simrad RS40 VHF to take your radio anywhere on board. The Simrad HS40 handset was designed as an intuitive portable companion to the Simrad RS40 VHF. Each handset duplicates your radios display and controls, enabling remote access to all key functions. Up to two Simrad HS40 wireless handsets can be connected to a single base station. With multiple handsets connected, the Simrad RS40 VHF doubles as a handy on-board intercom.

The Simrad HS40 Wireless Handset handset offers remote control of your fixed-mount Simrad RS40 VHF radio. Make calls, scroll through channels, and quickly initiate DSC distress functions from anywhere on board. With the Simrad HS40 Wireless Handset, you have the maximum transmission power and features of your fixed-mount VHF radio, with the convenience and portability of a handheld.

Communicate Anywhere On Board
With a range of up to 100 metres, the Simrad HS40 Wireless Handset offers complete coverage aboard even the largest yachts. One or more Simrad HS40 Wireless Handset handsets and the Simrad RS40 base station can also be used together as an on-board intercom system, enabling clear communication between crew members vessel-wide.
